PYB still making an impact on the youth of the the community
PYB is still providing opportunities to the youth of the community to learn the game of basketball. This season marks the 61st season. Costs have risen through the years and now are $100 for the first child and $50 for each additional child. Games are now played on Sundays versus Saturdays in the 1960s. The Iddy Biddy division plays on 6 foot baskets. The Iddy Biddy and Rookie divisions practice once per week for one hour. Junior and senior league teams practice twice per week for 1.5 hours per practice. All games are played in the two fegley gyms. As of 2017, the PYB league had 31 teams total. There are other options now for Portage youth to play basketball, including the Portage Basketball Academy, which is AAU based and travel oriented, but competes against local cities/towns.
PYB action January 19, 2020.
Games played in both gyms
